Throughout the 2020 election cycle and most iconically at the 2020 inauguration of Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders wore some gorgeous mittens made from recycled sweaters by a Vermont school-teacher named Jen Ellis. This pattern emulates the color work present in those mittens for a quick knit that is guaranteed to keep your hands warm no matter how over it you are.
I originally wrote this pattern in one night, until 3 AM, the same date of the inauguration of Joe Biden in 2021. The pattern was originally a fundraiser for my friend’s gender affirming surgery, but is now and forever free. The initial Fundraiser raise over $5,000 distributed to my friend and the remainder they did not need send to the Brave Space Alliance in Chicago.
